An interaction session with five CLHIVs , (3 boys and 2 girls) who had participated in 10K Marathon in Delhi was held at NACO Office. The Session was held on 7th November 2016 at 11 AM, 6th-floor committee room.and was chaired by Secretary & DG, NACO. Joint Secretary, DDGs, DS, US and other NACO officials were also present.
Five Children Living with HIV from Sneha Gram’, a learning site of HIV/AIDS OVC Social Protection Project being implemented by Karnataka Health Promotion Trust situated in Bengaluru had taken part in the marathon organised by NEB Sports in New Delhi on November 6, 2016. Children were accompanied by their mentors from Sneha Gram including Fr. Mathew and Mr. Elvis.
Secretary & DG, NACO emphasised that Children’s involvement in sports helps in holistic approach to educate and build skills for a healthy lifestyle and better preparedness for future. He also said that NACO is committed to provide comprehensive care & support to all children infected and affected by HIV and all treatment services for all those who require it.
Earlier, in his welcome note, DDG-IEC and Lab Services, Dr. Naresh Goel welcomed the guest and gave a brief on the earlier interaction with the children. A brief on the care home and services was shared by Fr. Mathew, Director, Sneha Gram.
As a token of appreciation, the marathon runners were presented with mementos by Secretary and DG-NACO and JS-NACO.
