Contouring the spirit of cross-institutional collaboration and capacity building, this month’s talk in The Brown Bag Seminar Series focused on “HIV/AIDS in India: How to achieve the remaining 50%” by Dr. Bilali Camara, UNAIDS Country Director for India. The aim of the seminar series is to inform and build capacities & knowledge of programme managers at NACO, community, development partners and key stakeholders. The seminar series serves as a gateway for knowledge sharing, open dialogue, cross learning on new developments and programme management. India has made major success in reversing and controlling the HIV epidemic as well as preserving human rights, care & treatment and strategic information. The prevalence of HIV infection has nearly halved in the past decade and there has been a declining trend in AIDS-related deaths in India. During the talk, the presenter analysed the current epidemiological situation and reflect on the game changers which could unleash the full potential of the National AIDS Programme and bring the country to achieve the 90-90- 90 targets and Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission by 2020.
